The Fitbit Charge 2 did everything I needed it to, it was easy to use; and thanks to FNB’s device shop, I could pay it off over 24 months. But that was before I switched to the Huawei Band 3 Pro.

I loved Fitbit; until I switched from a Sony Xperia to a Huawei smartphone in 2017, and realised with a shock that the Fitbit app is not compatible with most Huawei handsets.

I had the P10 at the time. The device was unsupported, and my pretty purple Fitbit was reduced to nothing but a timekeeper and a daily step tracker because the data couldn’t sync with my phone.

To be fair, the incompatibility issue was not Fitbit’s fault; it was a Huawei restriction. Nevertheless, it frustrated me that my favourite fitness band and my favourite phone didn’t speak the same language.

The battery won’t let you down

A constant annoyance with the Fitbit Charge 2 was the number of times I had to charge that thing. Even though the Band 3 Pro only has a 100mAh cell, it seems to go on and on forever.
